Magpie 61

Willow's prompt this week reminded me of a saying I learned when I was working in Germany:

"'In vino veritas.'
In Bier ist auch etwas."

("In wine there is truth."
In beer there is also something.) :-)

Makes sense - just don't mix the two.

I like that, so true!

In vino veritas -- I love that phrase. Beer may have something but wine does it for me.

gosh that looks ... thirst-quenching
a fine tool for discovering the something else?

Know that saying but don't know what beer has - I don't like it - not even a Herforder Pils!

Give me a glass of wine any day, or even a bottle!

Old English saying . . "It's the drink talking." Does that mean the same as "In Vino Veritas", or the opposite?

Helen said...

Beer on wine is fine ...
Wine on beer you must fear ...
Learned that years ago ...

Oh yes, in beer there is something. I really enjoy a good dark beer when I am in the right mood and in the right weather/company.
