For ABC Wednesday

A “Y” Song (to the tune of “Yesterday”)

Yesterday…
All my troubles seemed so far away.
But problems then showed up, as if to stay.
Though I believed in --
Yesterday.

Suddenly…
Something came to live in my hard drive,
A nasty virus that was real, alive.
No word of warning, just about midday.
I never will forget that –
Yesterday.

I called my faithful old computer guy.
This time, it seems, he had an alibi:
He’d just left for his holiday.
In fact, he’d just left --
Yesterday.

I like to think I’m good as blogging host,
But then I couldn’t even send a post.
The virus knocked my ‘pewter for a loop;
My very blog began to sag and droop.
But that was –
Yesterday.

Today, the virus gone, my life is sweet.
I’m ready once again to meet and greet.
But I won’t soon forget the disarray
And all the mess that happened –
Yesterday.

After the laugh, I must echo EG... None of like those kind of yesterdays! :-D Well done... and no doubt that tune will stick in my head for days to come...

Couldn't resist singing this ... it was the first song I learned when I took guitar lessons!

I've got my fingers crossed. :-)

I was singing along remembering my own "yesterday" when my "puter" was in the shop. Alas, it needs to go back for a final checkup before being hailed as healthy again! :D

Terrible to suffer a virus like that. Your sense of humor stood you well--and I'll never think of that song in the same way again!

That's quite a compliment, Rog. Thanks.

Loved this. I remember McCartney's working title for the tune was "Scrambled Eggs." Kind of goes with your predicament, no?

Here's to cootie-free tomorrows! Nicely played, Berowne! Amy

I know how it feels, but with me it was my camera. I "lost" it. It wasn't in my luggage when I arrived in Vancouver. My husband couldn't find it when I phoned home and asked him to look. I phoned around to see if anyone had found it, then finally put an ad in the paper. Half an hour later I found in under a pile of clothes on the bed in the spare room.
Now all my troubles seem so far away.

Dear Berowne: Yesterday is gone; today is a song! Love this! I want to reinvent in new/old ways these covers in such stark impressively new verse! A Tale of Two Songs in the City! One sad and lamentable; the other Jolly Good! Fun!

Those viruses really suck, don't they?
I hope your "yesterday" won't be repeating itself.

Nicely done!

This is a very amusing, and cleverly written parody of 'Yesterday', one we can all relate to.

Freaking hilarious! Great parody, and humor-filled approach to dealing with an irritating issue.
