Three-Word Wednesday, Magpie 104 and ABC Wednesday
"E" is for "Effort"
I’m not sure why, but this week’s prompt reminded me of an old French drinking song…
(Usually sung by old French drunks.)
So, in the interest of fostering better international relations, and since civilization is going to rack and ruin anyway - :-) - here are some angelic lines: :-)
Ah, ah, ah! disait le trottoir.
Qu'est-ce qui va s'passer ce soir?
Disait la mariée, ohé.
Qu'est ce qui va s'passer ce soir?
Disait le trottoir.
Ah, ah, ah! disait la serrure.
J'savais pas qu' c'était si dur,
Disait la mariée, ohé.
J'savais pas qu' c'était si dur,
Disait la serrure.
Ah, ah ah! disait la pendule.
On avance et on recule,
Disait la mariée, ohé.
On avance et on recule,
Disait la pendule.
Here's the rest of the story: with a little effort it's kind of fun to try to figure out the meaning without an English translation nearby...

Hmmmmmmmm....interesting direction to take.
I think I see where your were coming from - unlike 'le trottoir'! LOL
OK I'm trying. I know one thing...nothing more fun than singing an old French drinking song with a bunch of French drunks in Rocamadour.....ce site incomparable est decrit
i did not know it was so hard said the bride...haha...
Reminiscent of a joke that begins:- The good girl said "It's hard to be good" and the bad girl said . . .
Maybe I'll do just that. Never can tell what'll come up.
My HS French has failed me with a couple key verbs. I do know I shouldn't be sober.
Brian M and Doc FTSE: You both got it; congratulations!
Yvonne O: "Singing an old French drinking song with a bunch of French drunks in Rocamadour."

Isabel D: "Merci M Berowne et bon nuit."
Forgive me for mentioning it, Isabel, but it's "bonne." :-)

Hehehe! I think your humour is a bit like my husband's. :))
I used the MS translator. Very naughty, expecting the blog police any minute! :-)
The next time I meet an old French drunk I'll ask him what it means! Until then I'll just look at your even more nightmarish illustration.
Ooo la la...sounds like la mariée had a lovely evening.

j'aime la façon dont vous avez utilisé le pendule et alors l'image comme un blurr, parce que c'est ce que le mouvement du pendule se traduirait par avec cette image
haunting suppleness
It'll be romantically real! French is the language of love!
Hank
Stafford R: "Expecting the blog police any minute!"
Come now; as old drinking songs go, this one's fairly anodyne. :-)
EG Wow: "I think your humour is a bit like my husband's."
I take the liberty of thinking that might be a compliment. :-)
Salut! I really really enjoyed this. I struggle with my french everyday. And this was a nice break.
Merci!
ninotaziz: "Salut! I really really enjoyed this."
Wonderful comment, much appreciated.
Naughty song
I'm absolutely crap at foreign languages - not enough spit for proper pronunciation!
Since we're on the subject of French and drunks, there's a film called 'La Legende Du Saint Buveur' (The Legend Of The Holy Drinker) set in Paris, that is simply wonderful. Keep an eye out for it!
I think I love French Drinking songs. So funny.
Nara M: "I think I love French Drinking songs. So funny."
Glad you enjoyed it; thanks.
Dear Berowne: Oh very surréalité...got a hear this in person one day~
