(Also for Three Word Wednesday and ABC Wednesday: "F" is for "Food Service")
Here’s
this week’s Berownial quiz question.
The
following is my distinctly new-age variation of an old, well-known story. What story?
“I think we’re in trouble.”
“Oh, you’re always worrying. Relax.
Everything’s going to be fine.”
“Have you looked out there? There’s literally a ton of people waiting, thousands of ‘em.”
“So? That’s
good. That’s great. We wanted this meeting to be a big success. Our message is powerful beyond measure."
“But they’re all expecting to be fed. We weren’t prepared for such a huge group.”
“I told you, the job of feeding everyone has been
turned over to Christopher, a food service specialist. He’s the expert in this kind of thing. He’ll take care of it.”
“So when does he plan to get here?”
“He’ll be here; he’s very dependable. And he’ll handle all aspects of the food
service. No problem.”
“He mentioned his menu. Some kind of seafood dish? Does he know we don’t have refrigeration?”
“Will you stop being irrational!
This is what he does. You can be
sure he’s thought of everything.”
“I was reading this leaflet they passed out to all
the folks out there. It’s a joke! You think I'm just being sullen? Listen to this: in addition to the main, and evidently only,
dish, it says ‘Each person will also receive a slice of healthy, organic
whole-grain bread.’ They get a slice of
bread! What a meal! We’ll be lucky if they don’t come after us
with pitchforks after a lunch like that!”
“I’m telling you, he’s done this many times before. Every time there were some who challenged him
– you can’t serve a huge number of people with such a limited menu, they said. But he did.
He’s a pro - he’ll pull it off.”

Humm......Mark 6: 30-44?
R Burnett Baker has started us off this week with the correct answer.
Christ feeding the five thousand. But what's it got to do with the Magpie picture? And do I get a prize?
My solution - Matthew Ch.14, vv13-21. Colloquially "Feeding the Five Thousand"
The biblical parable of the loaves and fishes...
the Miracle of Loaves and Fishes-
We've got a nice list of folks with the right answer: Frances Garrood, Tess Kincaid, Doc FTSE and Kathe W. Congrats, all.
Ha! I'm back. Had no idea last week, and was wrong the week before. But this must be Jesus feeding the masses (I think there are two stories in the Bible, and at least one says 5000 men, not to mention women & children.)
Roger Owen Green has just coughed up the correct answer.
Jesus feeding the crowd of followers.
From the bible-the loaves and the fishes, where Jesus fed the 1000's who had gathered. Which I think was the sermon on the mount? (Sunday school was a long time ago!).
Frankie Jay, SHE and oldegg have provided us with the right answer.
The Last Supper! Or some may say the Lord's Supper.
The Parable of the Loaves and the Fishes. 5 barley loaves and 2 fish to feed the masses.
I agree with everyone else. This is Jesus' feeding of the multitude, with those little fishes and small loaves. Here, we have raw herring, with new potatoes and hard boiled eggs - lovely!
Altonian and uberrhund have both courageously stepped up with the correct answer.
Your stories are a delight! Even if it was about my own life I wouldn't be able to get the answer but entertaining just the same
The multiplication of the loaves and fishes.
Feeding the 5000 perhaps?
Anna :o]
Two more "winners": hyperCRYPTICal and naturgesetz, both with the right answer.
Jesus feeding the multitudes with a few fish and loaves of bread.
could it be: Matthew 14:13 or Mark 6 ?
In Mark 6, the people had no food, but one boy had five loaves and two small fish. Jesus took these and gave thanks to God. Then he broke them, and the *disciples distributed the food to the crowd. By a *miracle there was enough food for everybody. There was plenty for 5000 people to eat well. There was even some food that the people did not eat. In fact, enough food remained to fill 12 baskets. This *miracle was a sign with an important meaning. Afterwards there was a very important discussion.
Paradise Road
Well, I would guess the Loaves and Fishes story. Nicely put...
Hildred, Reader Wil and Leslie all produced the correct answer.
Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes?
The Parable of the Loaves and Fishes!
the parable of Jesus and the multiplication of the loaves and fishes
Ha, you went all New Testament on us. The "Miracle" (in which I do not believe but think Jesus is the coolest prophet EVER) of the Loaves and Fishes.
Man, I'm a crummy Christian. I'll elaborate someday, but I do follow Jesus's teachings. Amy
Did the "Loaves and Fishes" comment take? I didn't see the "comment moderation" sign... Amy
Some more folks have joined our merry band with the right answer - Lucy Westenra, Kate, Sheilagh Lee and Sharp Little Pencil. Who's next?
The Loaves and the Fishes...Biblical story.
So it appears I should have listened to the loud Christopher that sailed ever so loudly. But I made a promise to myself, (when ever it was that I tried with I believe 3 or 4 tries) if at first I don't get it....speak, or rather type no more. I'll be back for your answer!
Jesus feeds the 5,000.
Both Belva Mae Staples and rallentanda also have the right answer.
It's Jesus! Very cool post! I love your quizzes...I always learn a lot! Two weeks ago I thought of the answer a day later and meant to get back to the post so I could answer it, but didn't get to.
Marie made it in just as the curtain came down with the correct answer.
Food and Fun.. By the way there is this joke in our part of the world that when a missionary visited and mentioned Jesus and bread only 5% converted.. When they said Jesus turned water into wine 85 % converted :). Late visit
PhenoMenon, ABCW Team
Well, I'm late to the game. It was a cute twist on the story, though!
